The newly elected governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has set Bello Matawalle a five-day deadline to return any government vehicles his officials may have taken while he was in office.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Lawal issued the deadline in a statement through his spokeswoman, Sulaiman Bala Idris, according to Daily Trust.
Lawal provided information about the allegedly missing vehicles and added that he will recoup the money misappropriated by Matawalle’s administration as well as the assets owned by the state government.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governor of the state, Matawalle, made a statement that the government characterized as prankish and an attempt to divert attention from the PDP administration.
Lawal declared he would not engage in a verbal duel with the APC administration, which he claimed had gone four years without launching a single initiative that would benefit the state’s citizens.
He continued by saying that he has the information needed to disrobe the former governor and expose his impropriety.
The Zamfara governor reported that Matawalle gave one Hafkhad Properties and Facilities Management Nig. LTD a contract of N1,149,800,000.00 to buy vehicles for use by dignitaries and Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The statement says, in part:
“Our government is determined in fulfilling the campaign promises made to the good people of Zamfara State which involves the swift recovery of looted public funds and properties.”
