Five students of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Osiele, Abeokuta, were yesterday crushed to death when a truck loaded with granite rammed into the taxi they were travelling in.
The incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m.
As a result of the sad development other students of the institution trooped to the street to protest the death of their colleagues, in the ensuring melee four trucks were set ablaze.
The students also barricade and made bonfires at various spots along the Abeokuta-Odeda- Ibadan Road, this caused a gridlock on the busy highway.
The identity of the dead students could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
Police were drafted in to ensure that normalcy returned to the area.
