Kids throughout Nigeria yesterday May 27 celebrated Children’s Day amidst fanfare and glamour.

The usual march past and calisthenics display heralded the policy statements of the governors, who made the solemn promise to assure their future and create enabling environment for the future leaders.

 

However, in Ogun State the celebration was blighted by the arrest of no fewer than five students for being in possession of charms and alcoholic beverages.

 

Shocked men of the  Nigeria Security  and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC who mounted guard at the MKO, Abiola Stadium made the arrests.

 

The arrest came after Governor Ibikunle Amosun in his speech had warned students to shun any anti-social activities  but to be  upright in all  their  undertakings.

 

One of the officers NSCDC, visibly shaken was seen bemoaning what future lies ahead for Nigeria if teenagers engage in fetish activities at this early stage of their lives.

 

Meanwhile, in the spirit of the celebrations, the teenagers were handed over to the principals or head of delegation of their various schools, who were advised to carefully monitor the activities of this group of students.
