A renew cult clash between members of rival cult groups yesterday claimed the lives of four suspected cultists in Ijebu Ode in Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
This is coming just as another set of five men gang -rapped a 21 –year- old girl Wednesday evening while celebrating the birthday of her boyfriend in an hotel in Sagamu township of the state.
We reliably gathered that the clash occurred between members of the Aiye cult group and their rival group Eiye where the cultists took advantage of the crisis to loot shops and kiosks within the town.
Two people were allegedly shot dead at Olisa street.
It was further gathered that yesterday’s attack was a reprisal attack from the Eiye cult group who were revenging the killings of two of their members last weekend.
Hell was however, let loose as the two groups engaged themselves in a shootout at Joke street, beside Ijebu Ode Grammar School, off Abeokuta road.
It was further gathered that residents and shop owners ran helter-skelter for safety thereby giving the boys opportunity to loot shops around the area.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Muyiwa Adejobi told National Mirror that the cultist only killed one man late Wednesday evening at Mobalufon area kf Ijebu -Ode.
Adejobi said the cultists entered into the house where the yet to be identified man was residing, headed straight for his bedroom and shot him severally to ensure that he died before leaving the room.
PPRO added that the police had a strong belief that the deceased was a member of a rival cult group going by the way and manner the assailants operated.
