Nigerian music star Fireboy DML has stirred conversation by stating that Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, currently outperform Nigeria’s Super Eagles in terms of teamwork.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the 90s Baby Show, the “Obaa Sima” hitmaker acknowledged that while Nigeria boasts more individual talent, Ghana has a more cohesive squad.
“Ghana is a better team right now,” Fireboy said. “Individually, Nigerians are more gifted, but as a team, Ghana plays better.”
He pointed out that Nigeria struggles to merge the brilliance of its players into a unified team, stressing that despite the abundance of talent, the Super Eagles lack chemistry and a strong midfield presence.
“We don’t have a solid midfield,” he added. “Thomas Partey alone gives Ghana an edge. You saw how he controlled the midfield during Real Madrid’s Champions League game with Arsenal. We don’t have anyone like that.”
Nigeria and Ghana are set to face off in another thrilling encounter at the upcoming 2025 Unity Cup in London, scheduled for next month.
