Popular Nigerian singer Adedamola Adefolahan, better known as Fireboy DML, has disclosed that he has never gone through heartbreak and isn’t eager to experience it anytime soon.
Speaking on a recent episode of the 90s Baby Show, the Playboy hitmaker shared his thoughts on the emotional weight of heartbreak, admitting he once thought about going through it just to understand the feeling—but quickly changed his mind.
“I’ve never had my heart broken. At some point, I was curious and wanted to know what it felt like, but now I’m not interested. At this age, I think it would be too much for me,” the 29-year-old said.
Fireboy revealed that he even spoke to a few women from his past to get a better idea of what heartbreak is really like. What he heard, he said, was enough to discourage him from seeking the experience.
He added, “What I found out wasn’t encouraging. Personally, I believe we often cause our own heartbreaks. Most times, when your heart gets broken, you played a role in it.”
The singer explained that many people ignore warning signs and gut feelings early in relationships, which often leads to emotional pain down the line.
“There are times when the signs are clear, and your instincts are telling you not to proceed, but we still go ahead—because the heart wants what it wants,” he said.
He wrapped up by describing heartbreak as “extremely painful,” adding that he’s not ready to go through such an experience at this stage of his life.
