Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has finally broken his silence, hours after INEC named his rival Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the President-elect of the 2023 presidential election.
Tinubu received 8,794,726 votes to defeat the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who received 6,984,520 votes in second place, and Obi received 6,101,533 votes in third place.
Tinubu, on the other hand, was presented with his certificate of return earlier today at the ICC in Abuja, as reported by Legit.ng on Wednesday, March 1.
However, in a previous social media tweet, Peter Obi promised to address Nigerians in due course.
Obi’s tweet reads:
“Our Vice presidential candidate Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed is addressing an international press conference at the Labour Party Headquarters in Abuja. I intend to address Nigerians and the international community shortly.”
According to Daily Trust, Tinubu offered to work with his opponent in his acceptance speech, claiming that there were no enemies despite the fact that they were all in the race together.
Similarly, Tinubu extended his hand of sportsmanship to the other 15 candidates running for the country’s top administrative position.
Tinubu promised to collaborate with them and their supporters.
Former Ekiti state governor Ayo Fayose described Labour Party candidate Peter Obi as a man of few words.
The ex-governor also urged Nigeria’s next president to work with Peter for the benefit of the Nigerian people.
According to Fayose, the former Anambra state governor has proven to become an institution in Nigeria’s political space.
