A 21-year-old final-year student from the Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa, who was reportedly paid N15,000 to pretend to be a girlfriend, has been found dead at a dumpsite, just three weeks after celebrating her sign-out.
The student, identified as Awesu Mojisola Oluwafunmike, was reported missing on August 9, 2024, shortly after sharing photos and videos of her sign-out ceremony on social media.
According to reports, Mojisola received a call from one Miss Timileyin, who informed her about a party organized by students from Summit University and Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin.
Through this connection, Mojisola was introduced to Mr. Adebayo Happiness, a Summit University student, who allegedly invited her to a night party, offering to pay her Fifteen Thousand Naira (#15,000.00) to act as his girlfriend.
Upon reaching Ilorin, Mojisola reportedly told her roommate, Miss Blessing O, that she felt uncomfortable at the hotel where Mr. Happiness had lodged her, adding that there was no party happening at the location.
After this conversation, Mojisola’s phone was turned off, and all attempts by her roommate to contact her were unsuccessful.
Tragically, on August 11, 2024, a group of laborers discovered Mojisola’s body at a dumpsite near the Aleniboro area in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The next day, August 12, a local resident, Mr. Olorunoje, reported the discovery to the police after being informed by the laborers.
The spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated that detectives were immediately sent to the scene. The area was examined and photographed, with investigators noting bloodstains near the deceased’s left ear.
The body was later identified as Mojisola Awesu Oluwafunmike.
Prof Anifowose Olamilekan, a lecturer at the Kwara State College of Health Technology, further revealed that Mojisola’s mother is employed as a cleaner with the Ogun State Waste Management Agency.
