Each federal federation state, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), received N5 billion as a palliative to lessen the impact of the elimination of the gasoline subsidy.
Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno State, said this at a Thursday interactive session with State House reporters in Abuja.
As previously reported by Naija News, Vice-President Kashim Shettima presided over the National Economic Council’s (NEC) regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday.
The 36 state governors of the federation, the ministers of finance and the federal capital territory (FCT), the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and the group chief executive officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) are some of the individuals who make up the NEC.
The deployment of palliatives intended to soften the unpleasant impacts of the termination of gasoline subsidies was specifically discussed during the conference, along with other concerns such as the Federation’s financial situation and general issues.
Abdulrahman Abdulrazak (Kwara), Hope Uzodinma (Imo), Inuwa Yahya (Gombe), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Dr. Alex Otti (Abia), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), and Ademola Adeleke (Osun) were among the governors who attended the meeting.
Others included Sheriff Obrevwori (Delta), Professor Charles Soludo (Anambra), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Uba Sani (Kaduna), and Bala Mohammed (Bauchi).
Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Prince Bassey Otu (Cross River), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Ahmad Aliu (Sokoto), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Peter Mbah (Enugu), and Babagana Zulum (Borno) are also present in the conference.
The conference also included the deputy governors of Katsina, Rivers, Yobe, Adamawa, Kano, and Kebbi.
