The Federal Government has launched an emergency helpline, 112, to combat the rising cases of kidnapping in Nigeria.

This toll-free number enables citizens to report kidnappings and other security threats.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, the National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre, Major General Adamu Laka, highlighted the initiative’s importance. He stated that the Nigerian Communications Commission had facilitated the introduction of the 112 emergency response number. He urged Nigerians to use this service to report crimes, suspicious activities, and kidnappings. Additionally, the Multi-Agency Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell will provide dedicated contact numbers for public use.
