Tomorrow has been set aside by the federal government as a national holiday to honor this year’s Eid-ul-Maulud celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
In making this announcement on behalf of the federal government, Minister of the Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo thanked all Muslims for participating in the event this year, both at home and abroad.
Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians, especially the youth, to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance, and perseverance, which are profound spiritual virtues and which Prophet Muhammad exemplified, in a statement signed yesterday by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade. She added that doing so would ensure peace, security, and harmony in the nation.
He urged Nigerians to work hard and be kind to one another, regardless of religion, ideology, social class, or ethnicity, and to, above all, work with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to create a progressive, admirable country that all citizens can be proud of.
The minister sent his best wishes for a joyous holiday to all Muslims.
