Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, has dismissed rumors suggesting he may run for the governorship of Lagos State. He stated that he is too focused on his responsibilities as CoS to consider such a move.
Addressing the Surulere All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Saturday, Gbajabiamila attributed the rumors to critics seeking to undermine him.
Recently, names like Lagos State Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, have been linked to the governorship race. However, Gbajabiamila emphasized that despite his political rise—from Minority Whip to Speaker and now Chief of Staff—he is not focused on the governorship.
He said, “People thought my career had peaked when I became Speaker, but now they fear I might run for governor. However, it’s not yet time for that. There are still two and a half years to go, and only God knows who will be the next governor.”
He concluded by reaffirming that his role as Chief of Staff is incredibly demanding, leaving him no time to think about a future political campaign.
