The electricity tariff for Band A customers in Nigeria has been reduced by the Federal Government by 8.1 percent, resulting in a new rate of N206.80/kWh, down from N225/kWh. Band A customers are those who receive a minimum of 20 hours of electricity supply daily.
In a statement released on Monday, Ikeja Electric informed its customers of the revised tariff, stating that the Band A feeders would now be charged at N206.80/kWh, effective from May 6, 2024, while the tariffs for Bands B, C, D, and E would remain unchanged.
It is worth noting that on April 3, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) approved an increase in electricity tariff for customers under the Band A category to N225/kWh from N66/kWh. The commission clarified that the classification included customers who received 20 hours of electricity supply daily.
Ikeja Electric disclosed in a circular released on Monday that the new tariff rate, which is lower than the previously approved rate, would take effect from May 6, 2024.
