Former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has sparked mixed reactions after laying out firm instructions on how he wants to be buried.
Marking his 65th birthday on Friday, Fayose stated that, when he passes, his remains “belongs to the Ekiti State Government” and must be interred within four weeks. He also said the burial should be handled strictly by the state government and his children.
While explaining his wishes, he said: “when I die, my body belongs to Ekiti State Govt and I must be buried within four weeks. My children must follow the Govt of Ekiti during the burial. I made a garden in my grandmother’s home where I should be laid to rest and after that, nobody must come there again. Allow me to rest.”
His declaration didn’t sit well with his brother, Isaac Fayose, who marked the former governor’s birthday with a strongly-worded message accusing him of selfishness and disloyalty.
Isaac’s post described him as “the most selfish brother anyone can wish for,” saying he hoped the new age would spark a change. He added: “You’ve betrayed everyone that has been there for you… I pray the spirit of selfishness in you will disappear and you can finally be a good man.”
