Ayodele Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti State and senior PDP official, declared that if given the chance, he would reject President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet appointment.
On Sunday, July 9, Fayose made this announcement during a live broadcast of Sunday Politics on Channels TV in Abuja.
In the interview, Fayose admitted that he supported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over PDP presidential contender and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
However, he made clear that the only reason he was backing Tinubu was because he believed in him, not because he was trying to have him appointed to a political position.
Fayose responded, “I will never accept it,” when asked if he would accept a ministerial offer from President Tinubu, according to Daily Trust.
He said:
“I never worked for PDP during the last election. There’s no reason to hide that… The reality is that I worked for Asiwaju (Tinubu). He is a respectable person from the South-West. It is the turn of the South.”
“The same PDP, because I said it was the turn of the South, removed my son, suspended my son, expelled my son, suspended me. For a man that has suffered tremendously for PDP?”
Fayose, who recently visited Tinubu at the presidential villa, also disclosed why he worked against the PDP.
Ayodele Fayose has revealed what he will do if President Bola Tinubu fails to perform.
After meeting with Tinubu at the State House on Thursday, July 6, Fayose said he would be the first to criticise the president if he did not fulfill his campaign promises.
The former governor also maintained that he would never dump PDP for the ruling APC even though he supports Tinubu’s government.
