On Wednesday morning, Father Ejike Mbaka, Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry Enugu, Nigeria (AMEN), returned to the Adoration Ground in Enugu State.
After months of suspension, the fiery Catholic priest was transferred out of the Adoration ministry,
On June 3, the Catholic Bishop of Enugu diocese, Most Rev Callistus Onaga, barred Fr Mbaka from commenting on partisan politics.
Mbaka violated political neutrality shortly after the initial ban was lifted, launching a verbal attack on Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, calling him a “stingy man.”
Following the outrage and condemnation that accompanied Obi’s attack, the Bishop issued a pastoral injunction on attendance at Catholic Adoration Ministry Chaplaincy Enugu, and enjoined all Catholics to refrain from visiting the ministry until further notice.
The Bishop also encouraged Catholics to pray for Mbaka.
Mbaka’s supporters marched alongside a vehicle transporting him to Umuchigbo’s Adoration Ground. Nike caused major traffic congestion on the old Emene-Abakaliki road.
The jubilant adorers, as his supporters were affectionately known, were seen very excited, with some dancing along the road.
