HOW TRAGIC: KwaZulu-Natal police are questioning a man in connection with the murder of a woman and her five children over the weekend.

Police spokesman Colonel Vincent Mdunge said he could not reveal any details about the man who was being questioned in connection with the murders at a home in Durban’s Inanda area due to “the sensitivity of the investigation”.

The bodies of the 38-year old tuck shop owner Nobuhle Leneha and her five children were found on Sunday by her brother-in-law. He had been unable to contact her on Saturday. Being concerned, he had visited the house on Sunday.

It was then that he discovered the bodies of the five children stacked in the bedroom and that of Leneha in the passage.

The only survivor of the tragedy was a toddler, believed to be between 14 to 17 months old.

Mdunge said he had been strapped to his mother’s corpse.

According to a report The Mercury newspaper on Monday the baby had suffered no injuries, except for being dehydrated and hungry.

Mdunge said the children were Khalalelo Bobora, 14, Tumelo Bobora, 9, Karabo Bobora, 7, Simpiwioe, 5, and three-year-old Takiso Bobora. All five had sustained multiple stab wounds.

Mdunge said that Leneha had a wound to the chest, but it was yet to be determined whether it was a stab wound or a gunshot wound.

Mdunge said the woman’s husband was away at the time of the murders, which are believed to have taken place on Saturday.
