Popular Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has shared his uncertainty about raising his future children in Nigeria, citing serious concerns tied to his activism, as well as the country’s ongoing economic and security issues.
Speaking during an episode of the Dear Ife Series Podcast hosted by Ifedayo Agoro, Falz was asked whether he would consider raising his kids in Nigeria if he eventually became a parent.
Caught off guard by the question, he responded:
“Ah! That’s a heavy one. I wasn’t expecting that. Honestly, I haven’t thought that far yet.”
He explained that, due to the risks linked to his outspoken activism and the country’s broader challenges, he couldn’t confidently commit to raising his kids in Nigeria.
“Because of everything we’ve discussed—the insecurity, threats I’ve faced due to my activism, and the general indifference of the public—it’s hard to say ‘yes’ with certainty,” he said.
However, Falz, known for being passionately pro-Nigeria, said he couldn’t completely rule it out either.
“I can’t also say a definite ‘no’ because I still believe in Nigeria. I believe we can get things right. So honestly, I don’t know… Let’s see how things go,” he added with a laugh.
As of now, the rapper is not married and does not have children.
