Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz the Bahd Guy, has strongly criticised the federal government and religious leaders following the massacre that reportedly claimed at least 162 lives in Kwara State on February 3, 2026.
The award-winning artiste raised concerns about the nation’s priorities, questioning why political figures and parties appear focused on building campaign structures ahead of the 2027 elections while violent attacks continue across the country with little reported progress in arrests or prosecutions.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, February 8, Falz condemned what he described as a pattern of political focus on power rather than the safety and protection of citizens.
His reaction came days after gunmen suspected to be extremists attacked villages in the Kaiama Local Government Area, particularly the Woro and Nuku communities, leading to significant loss of lives.
Following the incident, President Bola Tinubu condemned the killings and announced the deployment of an army battalion under Operation Savannah Shield. However, Falz argued that statements and deployments alone are not enough, stressing the need for accountability and justice for victims.
The rapper also criticized religious leaders, accusing them of allowing politicians to campaign from church pulpits while failing to educate congregations on important national legislative matters, including the Senate’s reported refusal to adopt certain electoral reforms such as real-time transmission of election results.
Falz expressed frustration over what he described as a cycle where leaders issue condolences without visible long-term solutions, while citizens are encouraged to rely solely on prayers instead of demanding systemic change.
He said in part:
“I don’t know. What’s wrong with us? When are we going to wake up? I really don’t know. The other day, nearly 200 people were killed in Kwara. President just came and released a normal statement that said he was saddened by the incident. Bro, who has been arrested or prosecuted for this? Nobody. Nothing. You always send in people, what are they doing? They kill scores of people every day but today people will go to church. Your religious leader, Daddy G. O., Papa he’ll tell you to sit down there and pray that God will come and save you. They’ve started campaigning for the next elections, “relax Tinubu is fixing Nigeria”. “Papa will just tell you to sit down there and wait and pray for a spiritual solution. No problem. Let’s be waiting.”
Falz’s comments have since sparked discussions online about governance, security, and the role of religious institutions in national issues.
