Veteran Nollywood actress and filmmaker Faithia Williams has laid her mother, Gloria Uzoamaka Williams Ikperha, to rest in an emotional ceremony held at Ebony Vaults Ikoyi Cemetery.
Mrs. Ikperha passed away on February 4 at the age of 78, just a day before Faithia celebrated her 55th birthday. The burial took place on Saturday, March 7, and was conducted as a private ceremony attended strictly by invited guests.
The actress had earlier shared news of her mother’s passing on social media on February 9. Later, on March 2, she released details of the burial arrangements, explaining that the final rites would be held privately.
Before the burial, a wake-keep service was organised on Friday, March 6, where Faithia was seen breaking down in tears while being comforted by her sons.
At the burial ceremony, her ex-husband, Saidi Balogun, stood by her side alongside family members, friends, and colleagues who came to honour the late matriarch.
Mourners dressed in white accompanied the casket in a solemn procession as Faithia and her siblings paid their last respects to their mother.
Videos circulating online captured emotional moments as the actress struggled to hold back tears while surrounded by loved ones. She reportedly broke down again at the graveside as her mother’s body was lowered into the ground, with relatives and siblings consoling her.
The ceremony was attended by several figures from the Nollywood industry who came to support the grieving actress, including Iyabo Ojo, Mercy Aigbe, Ireti Osayemi, Bimbo Thomas, Bimbo Oshin, and Toyosi Adesanya, among others, who gathered to pay their final respects.
