An early morning inferno yesterday razed down the Ring road residence of ex-Super Eagles and Barcelona Star, Gbenga Okunowo.
The fire outbreak which started at about 2:30 a.m. from the PHCN office in front of Okunowo’s house soon spread to the ace defender’s house, completely burning down all his property.
The fire torched and burned down 8 vechicles within the premises of the PHCN office.
The ex-Eagles player, who now plays for Sunshine FC Akure lamented the loss of vital documents and property worth millions of naira, stating that he cannot quantify the loss.
Speaking, Okunowo said, “My whole house is gone. Even the clothes, boxers and slippers I’m wearing now were given to me by friends. My passport, my European residence papers, my medals and trophies, all my belongings in the house were lost to the fire, which started around 2.30 am on Sunday from the PHCN compound next to my house. ”
“I’m lucky that no one was injured from this fire. I had to escape from the fire for me to still be alive today. “I’ m still in a big shock, but I have contacted my lawyers to know what next to do,” the ex-Barcelona defender added.
