New Everton boss, Roberto Martinez, is hoping to sign Victor Moses in an 8m pounds deal from Chelsea, as he aims to mount a challenge for Champions League football next season, according to the MailOnline. The 22-year-old enjoyed a successful spell working under the Spaniard at Wigan and could seek a move away from Stamford Bridge, with Romelu Lukaku likely to return to West London after impressing on loan at West Brom last season.

Andre Schurrle’s arrival from Bayer Leverkusen may be another reason for the Nigerian international to move on and avoid becoming a potential bench warmer for Jose Mourinho’s side.

The forward showed glimpses of his talent last season, but managed just five full 90-minute league appearances for Chelsea in the previous campaign, scoring one goal.

The Merseyside club need to sell players before they can buy, meaning a loan deal could be likely if the Toffees fail to meet the Blues’ asking price, with Chelsea paid 9 million pounds for the player’s services last year.

Moses is the latest forward to be linked with a switch to Goodison Park, with Swansea’s Nathan Dyer and Aiden McGeady of Spartak Moscow being rumoured to form Martinez’s new-look side. Everton are also expecting to complete deals for Wigan goal keeper Joel Robles, along with defender Antolin Alcaraz, subject to a work permit.

Arouna Kone joined for a 5million fee from the Latics yesterday.
