Haaland’s two first-half goals and a late third sealed the victory for the reigning champions, despite a resilient effort from West Ham, who currently sit 13th in the league.
After an early missed chance, Haaland opened the scoring in the 10th minute, pouncing on a mistake by Lucas Paquetá. City nearly doubled their lead when Kevin De Bruyne hit the post, but West Ham equalized when Jarrod Bowen’s cross deflected off Ruben Dias and into his own net in the 19th minute.
City regained control, with Haaland scoring his second in the 30th minute after a brilliant assist from Rico Lewis. West Ham pushed back, with Mohammed Kudus hitting the woodwork, but City’s defense remained strong.
Haaland completed his hat-trick in the 83rd minute, finishing off a precise pass from Matheus Nunes. This marked his 11th hat-trick for City and his 24th overall in his career.
