The Nigeria Police Force’s Enugu Command confirmed the tragic and unfortunate incident.
Following the mysterious death of five family members in their apartment, tragedy has struck Amutenyi, Obollo-Afor community in Enugu State’s Udenu Local Government Area.
A woman, her two children, ages seven and four, and her two younger sisters were all involved in the Saturday morning incident.
The five family members went to bed on Friday night but did not return on Saturday morning.
Suspicions that something had happened to them prompted their relatives to call the police, who broke down the doors and discovered their lifeless bodies in two rooms where they slept.
In a statement issued late Saturday night, the state police public relations officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the incident and said the police commissioner, Ahmed Ammani, has ordered the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding their “sudden and unnatural death.”

The victims were identified as “Mrs. Chinyere Odoh, her two children – Udochukwu Odoh ‘f’ aged 7 and Chukwuemeka Odoh’m’ aged 4, as well as her two sisters: Martina Ezeme and Ngozi Ezeme,” according to a spokesman for the command.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the said deceased persons went to bed the previous night and were not seen the following morning,” he says.
Their lifeless bodies were discovered in two (2) separate rooms they slept in when Police Operatives from the Command’s Udenu Police Division, who responded quickly to a distress call on the incident around 9:25 a.m. on Saturday, forced-opened the doors of the rooms.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the said deceased persons went to bed the previous night and were not seen the following morning,” he says.

“They were rushed to the hospital and confirmed dead by on-duty doctors, and their bodies were deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.”
Ndukwe stated that the police commissioner described the incident as unfortunate and expressed his condolences to the deceased’s family and friends.
