Emirates Airlines has confirmed that it will restart flight operations to Nigeria, bringing an end to nearly two years of suspended service.
The announcement was made on Thursday in a statement issued by the airline’s Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim.
According to the statement, “We are excited to resume our services to Nigeria. We thank the Nigerian government for their partnership and support in re-establishing this route, and we look forward to welcoming passengers back on board.”
NAIJALOG recalls that the United Arab Emirates halted visa issuance to Nigerians in 2022 after Emirates suspended flights due to challenges repatriating funds from Nigeria.
Emirates has maintained a strong Nigerian customer base over the years and says it hopes to reconnect passengers to Dubai and more than 140 global destinations with the reinstated route.
The move follows a meeting held last September between President Bola Tinubu and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.
