According to reports, there is no animosity between Governor Uba Sani and his predecessor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
Governor Sani acknowledged this, saying there was no animosity between him and his official principal on a personal or political level.
Regarding who will take his place on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s list of ministers, he claimed that both he and El-Rufai were on the same page.
Abuja, FCT – Sani Uba, the governor of Kaduna State, has denied rumors linking him to his opposition to Nasir E-Rufai’s candidacy for a ministerial position.
Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu included El-Rufai on the list of ministerial nominees he forwarded to the appropriate authorities for clearance and screening.
Ironically, the ex-governor of Kaduna was not approved along with two other nominees for minister whose screening was suspended because of a number of petitions filed against them.
How El-Rufai was upset about losing his ministerial position
El-Rufai’s clearance was suspended as a result of many security reports against the former governor of Kaduna.
El-Rufai told President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a private meeting that he was no longer interested in serving in his cabinet, according to a subsequent story, which was corroborated by other sources.
Additionally, it was rumored that El-Rufai suggested that Jafaru Sani, a former commissioner, take his place. This recommendation, according to rumors, was rejected by Governor Uba because of Sani’s allegiance to El-Rufai, The Cable said.
While reacting to the allegation, Governor Uba said:
“The only thing that is true in the story is that I met with the president. Every other thing is false and a conjecture to create friction between me and Mallam (el-Rufai)
“I went to see the president specifically because I was worried by the turn of events. I believe both of them mean well for the country.
“At no time did we discuss the issue of replacement. That is the least of my worries.
If indeed Mallam wants to nominate a replacement, I will never oppose his choice. We are on the same page. Those who know us very well know that this is all lies. We know where the disinformation is coming from but we are not bothered.”
There are, however, rumors that Governor Uba has been promoting media rumors on purpose to give the impression that he and his former principal are engaged in a contentious argument.
El-Rufai reportedly resigned from his ministerial position and left Nigeria.
Another news is that Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has left Nigeria.
According to reports, this happened right away after he met with President Bola Tinubu and expressed his disinterest in being appointed to the position of minister.
El-Rufai was one of the nominees for a minister whose confirmation by the Senate was still pending because of security checks.
