The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly summoned former militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, over allegations of naira abuse.
According to a post shared on the agency’s official 𝕏 handle on Monday morning, Tompolo is being investigated for actions that allegedly violated currency handling regulations.
The EFCC also echoed this on its Facebook page, stating: “Nobody is above the law. Tompolo will have questions to answer!”
The development follows viral videos showing naira notes being sprayed during Tompolo’s 54th birthday party, which took place in April. In the clips, Tompolo is seen dancing as N1,000 notes are lavishly sprayed in his presence.
