The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 35-year-old Hyginus Nkwocha in Abuja on charges of internet fraud and money laundering. Nkwocha, described as a ‘young billionaire,’ was arrested at Ever Green Estate, Lugbe, following intelligence about his alleged criminal activities.
The EFCC seized various items from Nkwocha, including $2,200, a collection of high-end smartphones (iPhone 15 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, iPhone 13 Pro Max), a MacBook, a range of gold jewelry, and several luxury cars including a Mercedes Benz ML 350, Chevrolet Camaro, and Mustang.
Additionally, properties owned by Nkwocha were recovered in Lagos and Abuja.
Dele Oyewale, EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, stated that Nkwocha will be charged in court once investigations are completed.
