Sworn in at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Betta Edu is the newly appointed Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
At a meeting with heads of ministry agencies on Monday, Edu stated that the federal administration led by Bola Tinubu is dedicated to bringing 133 million Nigerians out of poverty.
Several persons would be lifted out of poverty through various interventions and programs targeted at lowering the country’s poverty level, according to the previous Women Leader of the All-Progressives Congress (APC).
She gave Nigerians her word that all actions and activities would be honest and open, adding that her four-year term will be characterized by accountability.
“It is crucial that we continue to concentrate on rescuing 133 million Nigerians from poverty,” she stated. We can accomplish it gradually, one step at a time, because nothing is insurmountable if we have a strong enough will and determination.”Along with the full support of the cabinet members and His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, we will also succeed politically.
“The real business of governance is what we are here to address, so we will downplay politics.”
In addition, the former Cross River Health Commissioner stated that everyone needs to pitch in to lower the nation’s poverty rate.
“It is unacceptable that 136 million people in this population live in extreme poverty, according to the sources.”Restoring smiles to Nigerians’ faces is our mission. Reviving the hope of the underprivileged requires us to reach out to them. We have to make sure that we will put in more effort, be extremely sincere, open, and responsible while doing this.”
Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, the ministry’s permanent secretary, promised Edu in his speech that the staff will collaborate with her to carry out the administration’s directive.
