Nigerian singer Yemi Alade performed at the opening ceremony of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2023 on Saturday. Total Energies AFCON shared a video of her performance on their official handle, describing it as “amazing”. Yemi had expressed her desire to perform at football ceremonies since 2016 and called it a “dream come true” in a tweet on Thursday. She stressed the importance of prayer and speaking into existence one’s heart desires. Although she received many calls over the years, she believed that none of them were favourable until the recent one. Yemi Alade is grateful to her team and Jehovah for making her dream come true. The tournament is being hosted by Cote d’Ivoire for the first time since 1984, and it has resulted in heavy traffic in Abidjan as supporters of various teams have started arriving for the Group A opening match between the host country and Guinea Bissau.
