According to a Notice to Airmen, all flights in the United States of America have been grounded due to a system failure at the Federal Aviation Administration.
The impact on flights, according to the NOTAMs, is likely to be global.
The Federal Aviation Administration also confirmed that the problem is related to NOTAMs, which are critical notices and directives for flight crew, all personnel involved in flight operations, ATC, and so on.
The FAA stated that there is no estimated time for restoration and that flights will be suspended until the issue is resolved.
As a result of the development, the US FAA has ordered all domestic flight departures to be halted until 9 a.m. ET.
The suspension was imposed to “allow the agency to validate the integrity of flight and safety information” — no word yet on any similar blanket suspensions of international flights waiting to depart from abroad to the United States.
