The Duchess of Kent, Katharine, has died at the age of 92 at Kensington Palace, surrounded by her loved ones.
Her passing was confirmed through a statement shared on the Royal Family’s official Instagram page, which noted that she “passed away peacefully in her sleep last night at Kensington Palace, with her family by her side.”
The tribute highlighted her lifelong commitment to the causes she supported, her love for music, and her compassion for young people.
Throughout her life, the Duchess was deeply connected to music. She spent more than a decade teaching at a primary school in Hull and, in 2004, founded the charity Future Talent, dedicated to helping children from disadvantaged backgrounds pursue music education.
In 1994, she made history as the first member of the royal family in over three centuries to convert to Roman Catholicism.
