Yusuf Magaji Bichi, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), has officially resigned. The announcement was made on Monday through a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, the media aide to President Bola Tinubu.
The statement also revealed the appointment of new Directors-General for both the DSS and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). Bichi’s position will be taken over by Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, while Mohammed Mohammed replaces Ahmed Abubakar as the new Director-General of the NIA following Abubakar’s resignation on Saturday.
Bichi had a distinguished career within the DSS, rising to the top after serving in various roles, including as the State Director of Security in Jigawa, Niger, Sokoto, and Abia States. He also held key positions in different National Headquarters Directorates such as Security Enforcement, Operations, Intelligence, and Administration and Finance, among others.
Bichi was appointed DSS Director-General by former President Muhammadu Buhari in September 2018.
