Canadian rap superstar Drake has reportedly suffered another major blow in the world of sports betting, losing a staggering ₦296 million after backing YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul to defeat former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
Joshua Dominates in Miami
The highly anticipated showdown took place in Miami, USA, in the early hours of Saturday, December 20. Anthony Joshua relied on his veteran experience to dismantle Paul, securing a victory via a sixth-round knockout.
The fight saw Joshua assert his dominance early, dropping Paul twice in the fifth round before delivering a final flurry in the sixth that ended the contest.
The “Drake Curse” Strikes Again
Prior to the fight, the rapper had publicized his $200,000 (₦296 million) stake on Instagram. Had Jake Paul pulled off the upset, Drake stood to win over $1.6 million (over ₦2 billion).
Sharing his bet slip, he wrote:

A History of Losses
This latest loss adds to Drake’s notorious betting record. The report highlights that he recently lost ₦451 million at the US Open after placing a wager on Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner.
