“Dog eats testicle” — not a misprint, unfortunately.
It is tragic when a man’s best friend takes away one of his other friend most personal property. This is a story dog owners should learn from, how a 39-years-old paralyzed man from Arkansas who has no feeling from his waist down has been taken to the hospital after he woke up to find one of his testicles being munched by his new dog.
The man, whom police did not identify, suffered from a perfect storm of getting the wrong pooch — described as a “white, fluffy dog,” like the one in the image at the top of this article — and not being able to feel anything below the belt line.
The man told police that he awoke on Monday at around 7:45 a.m. and felt a “burning pain” in his mid-section, the police report stated.
The man said that he sleeps in the nude and noticed the dog was between his legs. Upon closer examination, he noticed the animal’s muzzle and front feet were matted with blood.
That’s when he realized “the dog had eaten one of his testicles,” the report stated.
The victim in the “dog eats testicle” case said he’d taken in the stray about three weeks earlier and was unsure if it had been vaccinated.
Police delivered the dog to a veterinarian in Poinsett County, where it was euthanized. (Thank God.)
The head was sent to the Arkansas Department of Health for rabies testing. Meanwhile, the victim has been taken to St. Bernards Regional Medical Center where he is receiving treatment for injuries. It’s not known whether he has been released.
We’ve known for a while now that dogs like to eat some pretty strange things.
In April, we told you about a Montana man, whose mutt devoured $500 in cash. And a June incident similar to the “dog eats testicle” case, found a pit bull puppy eating his sleeping owner’s toes.
While both incidents were unusual — and in the toe meal, disgusting — the “dog eats testicle” case is, for us, about as bad as it can possibly get. Does this change your desire to own (or keep) a pet?
