A YOUNG boy complaining of an earache stunned doctors when they discovered 14 live maggots inside his ear canal.
Mehmet Elmaz, seven, had to undergo surgery because one had become rooted between the bones of his ear.
They were only discovered by an ear specialist after the Turkish youngster’s pain became so bad he couldn’t sleep.
When Dr Cagri Derici from the Adana Research and Training Hospital investigated, he was shocked to find the wriggling maggots during the examination.
The little boy’s dad Mehmet Elmaz praised the work of the doctors who pulled out 13 of the live creatures with a medical pair of tweezers.
