Novak Djokovic breezed into the 4th round of the Australian open with a 6-3,6-3,7-5 win over Dennis Istomin. The world number 2 is vying to be the first man in the professional era to win the Aussie Open title in four consecutive years, looked in ominously good form as he took his place in the last 16 without dropping a set.
The Australian heat didnt seem to affect his style of play as he seems to be improving as the tournament progresse. Djokovic faces Italian Fabio Fognini in the round of 16.
World number one, Serena Williams also progressed into the 4th round with a 6-3,6-3 win over Daniella Hantuchova. Serena who is a 5-time grand slam champion looked like she was conserving energy and doing just enough to get through the match as the temperature touched 38 Celsius (100 Fahrenheit). She’ll be meeting Ana Ivanovic, who sent home favourite, Sam Stosur packing earlier today.
Other winners include China’s Li Na , South Africa’s Kevin Anderson and Italy’s Flavia Pennetta.
