Anita Lane English is being charged with attempted murder after finding her husband with a pornographic book.
Heard about the seven-year itch? How about a seven-year itchy trigger finger?
An apparently drunken Nevada woman allegedly fired bullets at her husband Sunday night for reading a pornographic book, which featured threesomes.
Anita Lane English, 69, tried to shoot her husband of seven years with a rifle in their Reno, Nev. home, after the book sparked a heated argument, according to Washoe County Sheriff’s Deputy Armando Avina.
“It sounds like Anita was upset, thinking that the husband was possibly insinuating something regarding them two and a friend,” Avina told the Daily News.
“At that time they did have another female guest at the residence who was just a friend of the family,” Avina explained.
Initially English tried to shoot him with a .30-30 rifle but the faulty lever action prevented her from using it. So English retrieved a small handgun from another room and targeted her husband, also 69, as he escaped across the driveway.
English’s husband escaped from the bullets uninjured.
“We were able to find two spent rounds that did come from a .22 handgun that were discharged out of the front door towards the husband’s direction,” said Avina.
He reached a nearby gas station unscathed and contacted the police, reported the Reno Gazette-Journal.
English was arrested Monday and taken to Washoe County Jail. She faces two counts of attempted murder of an elderly person. She was also booked on one count of domestic battery but that has since been dropped.
The argument reportedly started when Ed picked up his allegedly intoxicated wife from a casino shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday.
“There was no type of self defense on anyone’s part,” Avina said. “This was a matter of a person being angry enough in a domestic violence situation that they did turn a firearm on another person in an attempt to injure or cause death to another person.”
