Dino Melaye, a former Kogi West Senator, has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for Kogi State Governor.
Dino Melaye received 313 votes in an indirect primary conducted in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, defeating his closest challenger, Jabiru Usman, who received 127 votes. Former Deputy Governor Yomi Awoniyi garnered 77 votes, while Musa Wada, the PDP’s governorship candidate in 2019, received 56 votes.
On Sunday, Ahmed Makarfi, the chairman of the PDP Primary Election Committee, released the results.
In the November 11, 2023 election, Dino will face All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate Usman Ododo, a former Auditor General of Local Government in Kogi State.
