Famous Afrobeat singer Davido Adeleke has unfollowed record producer Rexxie on Instagram after the latter appeared to mock Davido’s lack of a Grammy Award win. The tension arose from a statement made by Rexxie on Twitter, where he boasted about his status in the music industry.
Rexxie, who worked on Burna Boy’s Grammy-winning album ‘Twice As Tall’ and the Grammy-nominated song ‘Do Yourself’ by Angelique Kidjo and Burna Boy, proudly told a Davido fan on Twitter that he had been nominated for a Grammy before Davido.
In a now-deleted post, Rexxie implied that he had already received a “Gra” (presumably referring to a Grammy) before Davido, without explicitly stating the full word. He further mocked Davido’s efforts, stating that he did not rely on sympathy or dance with children in school uniforms, nor did he attend the Grammy ceremony early with his entire squad and family members. Rexxie ended his statement by demanding respect.
Davido seemingly took offense to Rexxie’s subtle mockery and unfollowed the producer on Instagram, suggesting a strain in their professional relationship.
