Nigerian singer Davido has reignited his feud with his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, by suing her for full custody of their daughter, Imade Aurora Adeleke. In a petition filed at the Lagos State High Court on April 17, 2024, by his lawyers Dr. Olaniyi Arije, Okey Barrah, and others, Davido cited multiple reasons for seeking custody of nine-year-old Imade.
Davido accused Sophia of using Imade to extort money from him while making unreasonable demands. He emphasized his commitment to Imade’s education by covering all her school fees and ensuring she receives the best education possible. Additionally, he has been paying the rent for the apartment where Sophia and Imade live.
He stated that Sophia refused to live in a secure apartment he had purchased in Oniru, demanding instead that he continue paying N5,000,000 annually for a rented facility as his contribution to their daughter’s accommodation.
To ensure Imade’s transportation needs were met, Davido bought a Range Rover SUV for both Sophia and Imade’s use. However, he was informed last year by Imade’s school that she had been absent for two weeks. Upon inquiring, Sophia claimed the Range Rover was not in good condition but had not informed him. Subsequently, Davido provided another vehicle, a Highlander SUV, and gave Sophia N5.8m for the Range Rover’s repair, resulting in two vehicles at her disposal.
Davido detailed his financial support, including living expenses, nanny fees, medical care, insurance, and international travel expenses. Despite these efforts, he claimed Sophia continued to make excessive demands and frustrate him. Among these demands was a request for $800 per month for a nanny, totaling $19,600 per annum to be paid upfront.
He concluded by stating that despite his efforts to ensure a better life for their daughter, Sophia has consistently shown unwarranted cruelty, causing him significant pain.
