Nigerian Afrobeats icon Davido Adeleke has gotten into a heated online exchange with Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, after the aide publicly celebrated Wizkid Davido’s long-standing industry rival.

Governor’s Media Aide Hypes Wizkid

The back-and-forth started when Gawat posted a promotional flyer for Wizkid’s December 28 concert scheduled to take place at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS).

He captioned it with, “Ọmọ wa ni,” showing admiration for Wizkid’s accomplishments.

Fans Jump Into the Debate

In the comment section, one fan wrote: “Wizkid is the face of Lagos. Baba Bolu always promotes Lagos.”

Gawat agreed, responding: “Yes correct. We are proud of him.”

Another user then asked, “Ore oga nko?” — a reference to Davido.

Gawat replied: “My Oga is proud of him.”

Davido Fires Back

Davido eventually entered the conversation, clearly irritated by the back-and-forth.

He told Gawat:
“Bro, it’s been a year, let it go… why is it still doing you… grow up.”

The singer also quoted an earlier post from the aide that read, “Ọrẹ Ọga wa ni,” adding:
“Since yesterday… let it go nah… cheer up.”

The social media spat has triggered massive reactions from fans, further fueling the already intense rivalry between Davido and Wizkid’s camps.
