Singer Davido has responded to allegations made by his colleague, Spyro, claiming that music executive Ubi Franklin used Davido’s name to deceive him.
Spyro alleged during a recent interview that Franklin tricked him into performing at a birthday party in Ghana under the pretense that Davido had made the request. According to Spyro, Franklin promised to pay him $5,000 for the performance but failed to deliver the payment after the event.
In response, Ubi Franklin denied Spyro’s claims, stating that he withheld the payment because Spyro owed him money. Franklin explained that Spyro had agreed to pay him 10% for facilitating his recent car purchase but had not done so. He revealed that he withheld the $5,000 as partial payment for the debt, adding that Spyro still owes him N2 million.
The accusations and counterclaims have stirred mixed reactions online, with Davido being indirectly drawn into the controversy.
Reacting to the situation, Davido apologized for the use of his name in the dispute. Sharing a video of Ubi Franklin’s response on his Instagram story, Davido simply wrote, “Pls, I’m sorry.”
