Afrobeats superstar Davido and renowned singer Asa are slated to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2025 National Sports Festival (NSF), taking place today, Sunday, May 18, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The performances are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, as part of festivities marking the official kickoff of the 22nd edition of the festival, also known as the ‘Gateway Games.’
The announcement was made via X by Bukola Olopade, Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), who emphasized the goal of delivering a world-class event that mirrors the prestige of the Olympics.
“This is our Olympics, and the event must reflect that international standard both in competition and organization,” Olopade stated.
“The National Sports Commission, in partnership with the Ogun State Government, has organized a top-tier show for the opening ceremony.”
Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected to officially declare the festival open, with dignitaries, athletes, and fans from across Nigeria in attendance.
