Nigerian musician and entertainment mogul Darey Art-Alade has shared insights into how he and his wife, Deola Art-Alade, have managed to maintain a strong marriage while running a successful business together.
In a recent interview, the 43-year-old revealed that their relationship began with a deep friendship that naturally evolved into a harmonious partnership, both personally and professionally.
Reflecting on their journey, Darey said,
“We always just do things together. Once you enjoy each other’s company and admire each other, it flows,”
recalling how Deola helped him set up his social media presence back when he was still focused solely on music.
Over the years, the couple has built a complementary working dynamic. While Darey leads on creative direction, Deola oversees the business operations a balance they developed organically.
“We just cross-pollinated. I learn a lot from her, and she picked up a lot from me, especially on the entertainment side,” he added.
Built on Trust and Teamwork
Darey explained that their success comes from mutual respect, patience, and teamwork rather than instant perfection.
“It is not like you are going to have it all figured out off the bat. Once you have that willingness, cooperation, and understanding, you can cover each other’s weaknesses and play to each other’s strengths,” he said.
He also stressed the importance of unity when facing challenges:
“It is both of you against anybody else. Then when the doors are shut, you can figure out what may have gone wrong.”
Together, the couple has grown their creative agency, Livespot360, into one of Nigeria’s leading entertainment companies. Their firm has produced major events like Entertainment Week Africa and organized high-profile concerts, including Cardi B’s landmark show in Nigeria.
