The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has denied media reports that the Federal Government has lifted the ban on the importation of furniture items into the country.

Debunking the media report, Assistant Comptroller-General, Zone A of the NCS, Victor Gbemudu, described the report as false, saying he was quoted out of context.

Gbemudu, however advised importers, their agents and freight forwarders to refer to the import guidelines, which states that the ban on furniture is still in force.

According to him, “Please note that primarily, the Nigeria Customs Service statutorily enforces government fiscal policies while also ensuring trade facilitation at no loss of government revenue”.
