Cubana Chief Priest, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and has been granted bail in the amount of ₦10 million by a notable Nigerian court following his arraignment by the EFCC, according to recent reports.
The EFCC had planned to arraign Cubana Chief Priest before the Federal High Court in Lagos on April 17 for alleged misconduct involving the Naira, as per recent reports.
Cubana Chief Priest appeared before Justice Kehinde Ogundare and was charged with three counts of improperly handling Naira notes during a social gathering, which is against the provisions of the Central Bank Act of 2007, according to the charges filed on April 4 by the EFCC’s prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo, along with seven other legal representatives of the Commission.
On February 13, 2024, at Eko Hotel in Lagos, Okechukwu Pasca was accused of tampering with notes issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying them for a prolonged period, contrary to Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007, according to count 1. In count 2, he was accused of similar misconduct during a social event in Lagos in 2020, and count 3 cited a similar occurrence in January 2024, both in violation of the same section of the Central Bank Act.
It is worth noting that Bobrisky, a popular cross-dresser, was successfully prosecuted by the EFCC on similar charges, resulting in a six-month prison sentence on April 5.
