CRISTIANO RONALDO SETS NEW GOAL RECORD

Cristiano Ronaldo is now the all-time top scorer in the history of ‘Copa’ showdowns between Real and Atlético Marca.com has revealed.

Two goals from Tuesday night’s semi-final showdown added to his former tally of three saw Ronaldo over taking Luis Aragonés who previously held the bragging rights with four goals.

It’s being a season of record making and breaking for the Ballon d’Or winner who also became the first player to score nine goals in a UEFA Champions League group stage in the competition’s 22-year history.

In Tuesday’s outing, Ronaldo scored two first-half penalties to help Madrid book their place in the final of the Copa del Rey where they could be meeting Barcelona in another El-Classico showdown.

Barca take on Real Sociedad later tonight with a fairly healthy 2-0 advantage from the first leg.

In the same manner, going into the game against Atlético, Real were already 3-0 up from the first leg but gave nothing to chance as they made sure they secured qualification in style with the 5-0 aggregate win.
