An Apapa Magistrates’ Court has granted bail to a printer, Bamidele Afolabi, who allegedly forged product registration documents belonging to NAFDAC.
The Prosecutor, Mr Jombo Washington, told the Apapa Magistrates’ Court Three on Tuesday that the offence was committed at No. 13A, Alayo Shopping Complex in Ijaye-Ojokoro, near Lagos.
The accused resides at No. 73, Ifelodun Street, Ijoko-Sango in Ogun.
Washington said that Afolabi was facing a count charge of producing NAFDAC’s notification of product registration with fake NAFDAC registration number: A7-0583L.
He said that the accused named the product Koduro Soke Herbal Gin X200ml.
The prosecutor said that the offence was contrary to Section 361 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 and punishable under Section 363 (2) of the same law.
He said that the accused also produced fake NAFDAC notification of product registration, having NAFDAC registration: A7-1017L, called Doro Webo Herbal Gin X100ml.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr A. Bolarinwa, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
One of the sureties, according to Bolarinwa, must be a relative and the other gainfully employed.
The sureties are to deposit affidavit of means, two years tax clearance certificates and account numbers which must be given to the court’s registry and verified by the prosecution.
Bolarinwa adjourned the case to February 15, 2016.
