Couple remanded in jail for killing tenant’s 3 month-old baby

AN Akure Chief magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, ordered that a man, Oluwaseun Oluwatoba and his wife, Omolara, be remanded in prison custody for allegedly killing a three-month-old baby girl of their co-tenant during a fight.

The duo were alleged to have killed the girl, Roseline Adebisi,  with a hard object while fighting.

The toddler was said to be playing in the corridor of the house when the couple picked up a quarrel with her mother and  engaged in a scuffle with her.

The incident was said to have occurred at Ajebandele Street, Akure where the couple and the parents of the deceased are co-tenants.

When the case came up for hearing on Wednesday,  police prosecutor, Pelumi Adejuwon, argued that the alleged offence was contrary to and punishable under section 324 of the Criminal Code cap 37 laws of Ondo State 2006.

Adejuwon, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP)  prayed that the couple be remanded in prison custody to enable him send the duplicate of the case file to the Ministry of Justice for legal advice.

Chief Magistrate Omotosho Akinyele, granted the prayer of the prosecutor and ordered that the couple be remanded in prison custody.
